ARMAN IMPRESSES IN THURSDAY MAIDEN-BREAKING SCOREKaleem Shah was on hand Thursday evening to watch his 2-year-old colt Arman cruise to a 2 ½-length victory in his career debut under jockey Martin Garcia for California-based trainer Simon Callaghan.

Carlos (Santamaria) and Jack Sisterson helped prepare this horse in Kentucky for this race. I can’t thank this team enough,” Shah said. “I decided to name this horse after my son, Arman. So, there was a lot of pleasure with this horse running for me to show up for the debut. … Martin (Gracia) and I have had a lot of success together. He’s won many graded races for me – from the Breeders’ Cup to the Haskell to the Pennsylvania Derby. When I look at the pictures around my house he’s mostly who I see.”

Garcia said Arman is likely to head back to California but hopes the colt will return to Kentucky in the future.

Arman earned an 84 Brisnet Speed Rating for his victory in Race 5 Thursday. He went off at odds of 8-5 completed five furlongs in :58.14.
