Churchill Downs Cancels Charlie Strong Reception Due to Inclement Weather, Poor Driving Conditions

Feb 09, 2010 Darren Rogers

Due to inclement weather and poor driving conditions in the Louisville area, Churchill Downs has cancelled Tuesday night’s cocktail reception in the Turf Club to welcome the University of Louisville’s new head football coach Charlie Strong.

Churchill Downs officials are working with Strong to reschedule the reception. The make-up date will be announced as soon as details are confirmed.

Totals from a snow storm, which began late Monday evening, were expected to reach 5 to 8 inches in Louisville by midday, with cold air and gusty winds expected later in the day to cause temperatures to plummet and create slick and dangerous driving conditions.

No simulcast wagering was scheduled Tuesday at Churchill Downs. Weather conditions permitting, Churchill Downs is scheduled to open Wednesday for simulcast wagering at 11:30 a.m.
