(November 16, 2008) – Tim Standafer and Rick Tipton’s Simply Seattle repulsed a bid from favored Time Flies at the top of the stretch and drew off in the final eighth of a mile to win Sunday’s $42,780 allowance feature at Churchill Downs by 1 ½ lengths.

Ridden by John Byrne, Simply Seattle rocketed to an early lead in the field of five. Time Flies, ridden by Robby Albarado, made a menacing move leaving the far turn and drew on even terms with Simply Seattle.

The two leaders raced as a team until Simply Seattle drew clear to complete the five furlongs on the muddy main track in :58.70.  The race for fillies and mares was originally scheduled for the turf.

Trained by Mike Orm, Simply Seattle returned mutuels of $5 and $2.20 with no show wagering. Times Flies, who finished 12 lengths in front of Believeinthemoment, paid $2.20 to place.

Simply Seattle, a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Chief Seattle out of the Siphon mare She’s Snazzi, improved her earnings to $73,141 with the winner’s check of $27,606.

Live racing resumes at Churchill Downs on Wednesday with a 10-race program that begins at 12:40 p.m. ET.
