Churchill Downs to Host Two Family Adventure Days During 2019 Spring Meet

Bring the Kids to the Track this Sunday to Meet Louisville City FC Stars in Person

LOUISVILLE, KY – Thursday, May 15, 2019 -- Churchill Downs will host two themed Family Adventure Days presented by Kroger during the 2019 Spring Meet. The first Family Adventure Day is this Sunday, May 19 and the second will take place on Sunday, June 23. Each Family Adventure Day will feature more than 20 fun activities for kids under 12 in the Plaza, a family viewing area to watch the days’ 10 live races and special family ticket packages. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. with the first post at 12:45 p.m. The last post is approximately 5:30 p.m. Tickets start at $10 in advance and $12 day of and are available at www.churchilldowns.com. Children under two are free.

This Sunday’s theme is “Play Sports!” Louisville City FC stars will be in the Plaza to meet young fans. These include Napo Matsoso, Paco Craig and Chris Hubbard from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Sunny Jane, George Davis Tim Dobrowolski and Oscar Jiminez from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Young fans will enjoy having their photo taken with Louisville Bat’s Buddy the Bat and Churchill Charlie. The day will also feature cheer and dance performances, yoga demonstrations and tennis lessons by the U.S. Tennis Association.

The Sunday, June 23rd Family Adventure Day will encourage kids to get out of the house with the theme “Get Outdoors.” The family can learn about all that Louisville’s great outdoors has to offer with activities from The Parklands of Floyds Fork, Louisville Parks and Recreation, Kentucky Department of Agriculture and more.

Both Family Adventure Days will feature stick horse races, a petting zoo, mini pony rides, face painting, bounce houses, an obstacle course, corn hole, a bubble station, as well as a special area for children under three.

The Family Day Special Ticket packages include $48 for a Family Four Pack that includes 4 general admission tickets, 4 family meals or $64 for 4 box seat and 4 family meals.
