Longshot Threeforall Quickest in Churchill Grass Sprint

Virginia Clements, Gary Flood, Lou Hoagland and George McCarty’s Threeforall, the longest shot in the field of seven, outdueled Kitty’s Turn through the stretch and drew away by three-quarters of a length to win Sunday’s $50,400 race feature for 3-year-olds and up at Churchill Downs.

            Ridden by Aldo Canchano and trained by McCarty, Threeforall covered the five furlongs on a Matt Winn Turf Course rated as “good” in :57.72. Threeforall picked up $30,600 for the victory and increased his career bankroll to $61,693 with a record of 18-2-2-2.

            Threeforall, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Roman Ruler, returned $35.60, $12.40 and $5.80. Kitty’s Turn, ridden by Jamie Theriot, returned $7.40 and $4.60 and finished 1 3/4 lengths in front of Gentlemansapproval, who paid $8.60 to show under Joe Johnson.

            Racing resumes Thursday with a nine-race program that features a four-day Pick 6 carryover of $19,827 on Races 4-9. First post time Thursday is 12:45 p.m. ET with post time for the fourth at 2:21 p.m. ET.
