Power Outage Cancels Simulcast Betting On Sunday, May 2 At Trackside Louisville
May 03, 2010 John Asher
A weather-related power outage has prompted Churchill Downs officials to cancel the simulcast wagering schedule at Trackside Louisville on Sunday, May 2.
A lightning strike during an overnight thunderstorm left the off-track betting facility at 4520 Poplar Level Road completely without power and the service cannot be restored in time to conduct Sunday’s simulcast wagering schedule.
Simulcasting is set to resume at Trackside at Churchill Downs following the post-Kentucky Derby break on Thursday, May 6, as will the track’s live racing schedule in its 2010 Spring Meet that continues through Sunday, July 4. Admission gates open on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. (all times EDT) and fans who wish to cash their Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby 136 mutuel tickets will be admitted free to Trackside at Churchill when they produce one of those tickets at the gate. Free admission will be granted to those patrons through Sunday, May 9.
Mutuel tickets may be cached by certified or registered mail to:
Churchill Downs, Inc
Attention: Treasurer
700 Central Avenue
Please all 60 days for response. Keep a copy of the ticket for your records.
Live racing in the Spring Meet at Churchill Downs will resume with large carryovers in the Pick 6 and Super Hi-5 wagers. The Pick 6, which requires bettors to select the winners of the day’s final six races, will return on Thursday with a carryover of $947,641. The Super Hi-5, which is offered in the day’s final race and requires fans to select the first five finishers in that race in the correct order, will resume with a carryover of $147,055. Post time for the first race at Churchill Downs this week is 12:45 p.m., with the exception of Friday’s 2:45 p.m. post time for the first session of “Dress to Impress Friday Happy Hours” sponsored by Budweiser Select.
