Promise Me Silver Runs Perfect Record to Eight in Winning Eight Belles Presented by Twinspires.com

Robert Luttrell’s homebred Promise Me Silver kept her record perfect with an eighth straight victory in taking the 60^th running of the $200,000 Eight Belles (GIII) Presented by Twinspires.com for 3-year-old fillies.

        Ridden by Robby Albarado, Promise Me Silver collared the pace-setting Super Saks at the head of the stretch, drew clear at the three-sixteenths pole and had more than enough to prevail by 1 ¼ lengths over Callback.

        Promise Me Silver gave trainer Bret Calhoun a second consecutive victory in the race having scored with Fiftyshadesofgold last year.

Promise Me Silver, a Texas-bred daughter of Silver City out of the Macho Uno mare Uno Mas Promesa, covered the seven furlongs on a fast main track in 1:22.90. The victory was worth $112,840 and boosted Promise Me Silver’s bankroll to $432,195 with a record of 8-8-0-0.

        Promise Me Silver rewarded her backers with payoffs of $12.60, $6 and $4.20. Callback, ridden by Victor Espinoza, returned $5.80 and $4.40 in finishing a diminishing head in front of Scat Means Go, who paid $13.60 to show under Joel Rosario.

It was another 6 ¼ lengths back to Mizz Money, who was fourth and followed in order by Super Saks, Taylor S, Streetheart, Lavender Chrissie, Enchanting Lady, Fancy and Flashy and Ekati’s Phaeton.
