Twin Spires Glow Red for American Heart Association's National Wear Red Day

The historic Twin Spires of Churchill Downs Racetrack will again take on a red glow on Friday, Feb. 3 in recognition the American Heart Association’s (“AHA”) National Wear Red Day® and the organization’s effort to raise awareness about the dangers of heart disease in women.

The home of the Kentucky Derby, the iconic American sports and Thoroughbred racing celebration held each year on the first Saturday in May, has illuminated its signature architectural feature in red in recent years as part of the AHA’s National Wear Red Day®, which is renewed annually on the first Friday in February.

The AHA celebration is now in its 15^th year of highlighting the organization’s effort to raise awareness of heart health. Heart disease is the nation’s No. 1 killer of women.

The Twin Spires, a symbol of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby since their completion in 1895, are already bathed in a red glow and will be so through Sunday morning, Feb. 5.
